The author, Paul Lacroix, was a renowned bibliophile from France who received a pension from Russia for writing this work. Although the book was never completed, V.I. Mezhov notes that three issues of the first volume were published. However, there is no further information regarding a third issue. A fragile copy with chipped edges and torn wrappers.<br /> <br /> "Leningrad" was a bi-monthly illustrated literary magazine, functioning under the auspices of the Leningrad branch of the USSR Writers' Union, from 1940 to 1946. It emerged as a successor to "Rezec" (1924-1939), shifting focus from journalism to more artistic content. The magazine featured notable contributors in 1943, including N. Tikhonov, I. Kratt, V. Shefner, N. Orlov, M. Dudin, O. Bergolts, E. Vechtomova, A. Golubeva, A. A. Prokofiev, L. Pumpyansky, and A. Flit. It was discontinued in 1946 by the Organizing Bureau of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks. During 1943-1944, the magazine had a circulation of 15,000 copies.
