[Macao n.d. ca 1860]. A singe photograph, 9.5 x 6 cm., lower corner stained, balance clean, stiff card mounted, with old pen handwriting on verso: "Macao," this seems to be an albu- men type photo, minor fading, sharp image. S C A R C E This is clearly an early image of Macao. It shows the back- ground mountains before the bay as barren except for what may be one large house or water tank ? The bay has just a few very small ships. The area to the left of the bay has many houses & buildings, and there is a large building with tile roof in the foreground. While we are not experts on the dating of Macao photos, this one is early and shows Macao as a very primitive et un-spoiled village. * .
