Some paper spotting, mostly at the front and back of the volume, otherwise clean and bright. The editors were daughter and granddughter respectively of the fifth Earl. Enclosed is a four page letter from Evelyn Pelham gifting the book to 'Dear Dr. Bradbury' in 1916. There is evidence of a rusty paperclip which previously held the letter in place. One of the family residences was Cobham Hall, near Rochester, Darnley was M.P. for Canterbury 1818-1830.

Printed on thick paper which is clean and crisp with only a few signs of handling. ESTC R9410. Armorial bookplate of Thomas Francis Fremantle. A book difficult to find in its complete state. Stone is best known for his surviving sculptural output which includes the effigy of John Donne in St. Pauls, but he also had a successful career as an architect.
