Original cloth; very good in like very very lightly spotted dustwrapper which is rubbed to top margin. From the library of the eminent archaeologist Professor John Davies Evans (1925-2011) with his bookplate. He was director of the Institute of Archaeology (now part of University College, London) from 1973 to 1989; renowned especially for his research into the prehistory of the Mediterranean, particularly the prehistoric cultures of Malta.

Large 4to, pp.331, original black cloth in dustwrapper contained within original black cloth-covered slipcase; binding excellent; two short chipped tears to upper spine of dustwrapper, very minor edge-rubbing and shelf-wear to dustwrapper; internally, excellent. A blank white sticker adhered to side of slip-case, some slight shelf-wear, else good.

Contemporary full tan calf, decorative floral gilt border to sides, spine gilt and lettered direct. Half inch crack to upper joint but very firm. Overall very good. Engraved armorial bookplate on front pastedown.

Charles Gosselin. Paris, 1845. Being volume 6 only (of 8) of the Oeuvres Completes. 8vo (7 x 4 1/2 inches) 415-pages. Contemporary black grained calf over hard grained purple boards, the spines gilt in compartments and gilt lettered direct. A trifle rubbed.

Contemporary full tan polished marbled calf, decorative gilt border to sides enclosing a gilt wreath and lettered in gilt "Gisburne House, Watford", all edges marbled.Spine floral gilt with lettering piece. The binding for Sotheran, Londom. A very pretty binding but unfortunately a large chip out of the lower fore corner of the upper cover.
