New York: Westside Committee to Free Angela, 1971 Two pieces of Angela Davis ephemera: 1) An original pictorial flyer/ broadside from the Westside Committee to Free Angela Davis, displayed in a two-way glass frame. A small nick to top edge and light wear, else in fine condition; 2) An original printing of the People's Petition Demanding Bail for Angela Davis (New York: National United Committee to Free Angela Davis), in fine condition and displayed in the two-way glass frame on the verso of the Dance for Freedom flyer.

Signed by artist. Jasper Johns has been called the greatest living American Artist. He is associated with Abstract Expressionism, Neo-Dada and pop art. Honors include the National Medal of Art and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. His works have sold for the most by any living artist. This is the softcover exhibition catalogue from a 5 city tour (2 in the US) in 1978. Laid in is an invitation to the Members Preview of the exhibition where it mentions that the artist will be present. I really don't know if this is a first edition, I just presume so since this is a short tour. The laid in invitation is photographed with the artists signature page. Jasper Johns has signed and dated on the first free end page (no inscription). The date on the signature corresponds with the date of the Members Preview on the invitation. The book is in near fine condition, the corners are square, and the pages are clean and unmarked.

This is an ORIGINAL Swedish one-sheet movie poster for "SAN FRANCISCO", the 1936 MGM film starring Clark Gable, Jeanette MacDonald, Spencer Tracy, Jack Holt and Ted Healy. Directed by W. S. Van Dyke. Expertly linen mounted. Image: 27 1/2" x 39 1/2". Art by Eric Rohman (1891-1949), a Swedish artist who specialized in Swedish movie posters. He estimated that he had done over 7000 posters in his lifetime. Signed in the print. "San Francisco" was released in Sweden in November,1936. NP. 1926 - 1972. A magnificent archive of stage performers 'Bobby and Evelyn' who performed as clowns. (11 x 8.3 inches). There are over 150 items, stuck neatly into a large folder, the spine of which is now breaking. Comprising: 24 real mono photographs (12 from the Clown act and 12 from a Luton Grammar School gymnastic display which was choreographed by Squire), One large poster, circa 40 letters and telegrams, circa 60 programmes and show bills, circa 25 newspaper cuttings. The earliest items here are a photo dated 1926 and a flyer from 1928, and the latest seems to be 1972 on a large poster from Girvan. Working for the most part as Clown Bobby and Evelyn, His real name was Robert Squire, hers was Evelyn Wrensted. The couple performed across the country at fetes, fairs, concert parties and on the music hall and end of pier circuit for almost fifty years. This is the unique personal record of their career, from booking confirmations and programmes to photographs, letters of thanks and newspaper coverage.

One large original poster, 20 x 30 in., colour lithograph (toning to fore-edges, couple minor closed tears neatly repaired on verso, minor chipping to corners, oxidization of paper on verso), still a remarkably bright copy with little sunning to the image retaining the original richness. First edition of this very popular poster executed by Haskell Coffin in 1918 employing the image of Joan of Arc to pull at the heartstrings of American women to buy War Savings Stamps for the war effort. Cecil B. DeMille’s 1916 epic film, Joan: The Woman had generated so much press coverage, and movie lovers that Joan of Arc had become a household name.
