A handsome reprint version of the famous observations, taken from James Boswell's journals, which he maintained daily in the years 1762 and 1763. Mr. Boswell is noted for his biography of his friend, Dr. Samuel Johnson. This edition edited and introduced by Frederick A. Pottle. Volume includes about 20 b&w engraved illustrations. With extensive endnotes and index. --- In navy quarter cloth over grey paper-covered boards w/handwritten diary facsimile on front and back; titling in gilt on spine and dark blue topstain. Volume housed in grey paper-covered slipcase. --- With inked gift inscription to front free endpaper, otherwise a bright, clean, and unmarked copy. Slipcase in excellent condition.; Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; viii, 365 pages .
