About This Item
Cambridge: The University Press, 1949-1951. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 9.5" by 6.5". None. A smart pair of historical works depicting the early Tudor government of Henry VII and Henry VIII. In the original publisher's smart red cloth binding. This collection is comprised of two volumes on the early tudor government, with the first on Henry VII and another on Henry VIII. The work on Henry VII is the second printing, with corrections added, with the first edition being published in 1934. The volume on Henry VIII is also the second printing, with the first being published in 1934. Written by Sir Kenneth Pickthorn, a British academic and politician, who was a fellow of Corpus Christi College and a lecturer of History at the University of Cambridge. These works document the influence of Henry VII and Henry VIII as part of the government during their reigns. This includes the Defender of the Faith act, as well as laws on commerce and war. With a pencil inscription of Murray Lawrence, of Trinity College Cambridge, to the front endpaper. In the original publisher's smart red cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light bumping to the extremities and the occasional light mark to boards. The odd spot to the endpapers of Henry VII volume. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
