Found in the unclipped dustwrapper, in the original slipcase. In this illustrated work, Damie Stillman traces the origin of the neoclassical movement to the experiences of a few British architects visiting in Rome in the middle of the eighteenth century. Stillman tracks the rise of neoclassicalism into a fashionable new style, and examines the buildings of architects such as Robert Adam, William Chambers, and George Dance, alongside a discussion of interior design. From the library of Doctor Malcolm Higgs, an important architectural historian who worked as an assistant architect to Stirling & Gowan, working on their particularly renowned Leicester University Engineering Laboratory. During his long career he taught at the University of Edinburgh School of Architecture, Canterbury School of Architecture, and University of Nottingham. Later in his life he was the Vice-President and Honorary Librarian of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and contributed and edited the "Journal of Architecture". In the publisher's original blue cloth binding, in the unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, lovely, with just some light sunning to the spine of the wrap. Internally, firmly bound, with bright and clean pages throughout. Fine
