About This Item

London: Frances Lincoln Limited, 1999. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Near Fine. 11" by 9". Gary Rogers. A very smart first edition of this beautifully illustrated guide to the gardens at Chatsworth house. First edition. Illustrated throughout with colour photographs, plans, and drawings. A detailed study of the garden at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, home to the Devonshire family, passed down through sixteen generations. Written by Deborah Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, an English aristocrat, writer, memoirist, and socialite. She was the youngest and last-surviving of the six Mitford sisters, who were prominent members of British society in the 1930s and 1940s. With photographs by Gary Rogers, a British photographer specialising in plant and garden photography. In the original black cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also excellent with minor shelf wear only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Near Fine
