Collated complete.This edition includes a preface of the author's life and the setting of the play.The Gentle Shepherd is a pastoral comedy and set in the countryside of the Scottish Lowlands in the 18th century. It tells the story of Patie, a poor shepherd who falls in love with Peggy, a shepherdess.The drama was later converted to a ballad opera, leading to an increased popularity and eventually becoming Allan Ramsay's best known work.   In the original cloth binding. Externally, excellent with minor shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd spot. Near Fine
