This copy is in the publisher's original cloth binding, with gilt detailing to the spine. A highly regarded scholar of classical history and literature, Thomson was professor emeritus of classics at King's College, London until his death in 1959. Thomson wrote many other works on the subject of the classics, both in relation to history and literature: 'Shakespeare and the Classics' 'The Greek Tradition' 'Classical Influences on English Prose' In a cloth binding. Externally, smart with light fading to spine. Bumping to spine. Light browning to free-endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean and uncut. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
