London: William Bent, 1786. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Good. Octavo. 384 pages, indexed. Hardcover bound in quarter tan calf, with marbled paper covered boards. The binding is rubbed, and the boards show some normal scuffs. Raised bands on the spine. Prior owner's signature "T. Smith / 1788" on the front flyleaf in a fine hand. There is some foxing to the text. Some offsetting to the paper on the pages opposite the engravings. This volume is has 14 of 15 plates, LACKING the plate of Hatfield House opposite Pg. 137. This plate also lacks the leaf for pages 138-139, so two pages of text are missing. This volume runs from January to June, 1786 and contains the supplement and the Index at the rear.

London: Printed for John Stockdale, 1793. Leather Bound. Poor/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavos. xii, 357; 360 pages. BINDINGS IN POOR CONDITION. Two volume set bound in early full leather. Spines perished and dry. Boards detached and with some chipping to the leather on the boards near the spine. Lacks the leather spine label on Volume I and the label on Volume II is scuffed. The text block to Volume I is completely broken between pages 176 & 177. There is an early 20th century owner's gift inscription on the front flyleaves of each volume, "To my son Edwin R. Freeman / with love / Elizabeth Woods Freeman." Marbled endpapers. The front pastedown of each volume has a simple unadorned bookplate of "Rode Hall / Library." (Rode Hall is a Georgian Country House in Cheshire, England). The text itself is a little toned but generally clean. Still, a binding set only. One of the earliest histories of the American Revolution by an American. David Ramsay (1749-1815) was an American historian and physician from Charleston, South Carolina. He was a member of the South Carolina legislature and served as a field surgeon during the Siege of Charleston during the Revolution. He was a member of the Continental Congress from 1782 to 1786.

Light to moderate rubbing and wear to the binding. The leather on the spine has some scuffs. A sound copy with secure hinges. Marbled endpapers and the front flyleaf has a mid-20th century owner's bookplate. Interior toned. Contains a frontis portrait. Text is in French. Guy Joseph Bonnet (1773-1843) was a Haitian historian and General of the Army of the Republic of Haiti. he was one of the signers of the Haitian Act of Independence (1804) when Haiti overthrew French rule. No auction records found. Scarce. We've been unable to find any other copy listed online, and the last copy seen in published auctions records is from 1901.

Text is toned and foxed. The text blocks are sound. The leaf for pages 245-246 in Volume one has a 3 1/2 inch tear running from the fore edge straight into the text. Lacks all of the maps, although it appears they were never bound in (no plate marks or sign of cut pages).

A small book measuring 5 3/4 inches tall by almost 3 1/2 inches wide. Hardcover bound in original leather-covered wooden boards. The binding is quite worn and stained. Chipping at the spine ends. The leather is chipped and is darkened on the rear cover (from having been damped) and is peeling up where it is chipped, revealing the wooden board beneath. The front pastedown is torn away, revealing the front wooden board. Lacks the clasp. Several signatures a bit sprung. There is a chip at the fore edge of the title page, affecting some of the lettering. The text is toned and stained. Bottom edge torn away from the bottom of the final leaf, but there does not appear to be text missing. Worldcat also notes 252 pages. Printed in "Old German" type. A scarce 18th century American Psalter written in German.

Rare original poetry book with cloth covered boards, copyright 1880 by J. W. Shoemaker & Co. This edition published in 1906 by the Penn Publishing company, Philadelphia. From the estate of my great-great grandfather.Includes many unique poems and recitations such as "To a skull", "Uncle Daniel's Introduction to a Mississippi Steamer", "The Leak in the Dyke", etc. More well-known poetry includes "Song of Birds", "Old Ironsides", and "Bannock Burn" by Robbie Burns. Light rubbing and bumps to outside spine edges. Back cover and interior cloth covered board has a stain at top. Original owner's name and address from 1908, but no other writing or marks. First 2 pages have a stain at top, but text of 192 pages of poetry and recitations is totally clean with light tanning of pages.
