Morris, beautifully illustrated in colour throughout. The third edition of this popular work.Illustrated with seventy-two hand-coloured plates, and two monochrome plates.Collated, complete. Francis Orpen Morris' beautiful study on the butterflies of Great Britain, a wonderful technical exploration of the many different species and breeds, looking into their nature and lives.Morris was a parson-naturalist and pioneer for the movement to protect birds. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, a little worn, with a small amount of loss and lifting to the head of the spine. Spine is faded, with a little fading to the front joint, and fading to the rear board. Minor bumping to the tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light marks to the boards and spine. Small bump to the fore edge of the front board. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some scattered spots. Page 57/58 and the plate facing page 57 detached but present. Good
