Illustrated with tissue-guarded frontispiece and another full page lithographs of the Matterhorn and Guides at the Riffle, nine additional photo plates, and twenty-one line drawings. Beige linen-cloth covers. Gilt title on black panel to spine. Top edge gilt; untrimmed fore and bottom edges. Light rubbing and soiling to boards. Three corners bumped. Title page in red and black ink. Unmarked interior. Age-toning to pages. Neate M181: "Mummery was an expert rock-climber and alpinist who made many important climbs in the Mont Blanc region. He led an expedition to Nanga Parbat in 1895, with Collie and Bruce, and disappeared whilst reconnoitring."
