Edinburgh: Printed for W. Skirving; London, J. Ridgeway, 1793. First edition. Hardcover. Very good overall. Trial of one of the "Scottish Martyrs", Thomas Fyshe Palmer (1747 - 1802) political reformer and Unitarian minister who agitated in Scotland for universal suffrage.

Convicted of sedition in 1793, Palmer was sentenced to seven years transportation, and sailed in 1794 on the 'Surprize', along with the Scottish Martyrs, Thomas Muir, William Skirving and Maurice Margarot. Palmer served his sentence in Sydney and was permitted to engage in business, using a small vessel to conduct trade with Norfolk Island.

8vo, 195pp, Advertisement. Portrait was not present when bound by the Bar Library. Deaccessed by the NY Association of the Bar Library, with their stamp on the title page. Tan library cloth binding with leather gilt spine label, and paper label, chipped and rubbed. Title page chipped along gutter, detached. Ferguson, 166 has date in title as 1792. Trove 2430170.
