A scarce two volume edition of the works of Restoration era dramatist Thomas Otway.In smart full calf bindings. With a general title page to the start of volume I, a further title page for each volume, and title pages for each play.Volume I features six plays, while volume II contains four plays, alongside 'poems upon several occasions'. Volume II also features Otway's best known drama, 'Venice Preserv'd, or A Plot Discover'd'.ESTC N25869Volume I is dated 1718, and vol. II dated 1717, as called for.With ink inscriptions to the front pastedown of each volume, and front free endpaper of volume I. Pencil notations to volume II rear free endpaper.A smart and scarce set. In full panelled calf bindings. Light rubbing to back strip tails and joints. Head and tail of volume I front joint starting, but firmly held. Head of volume II front joint starting, and firmly held. Contemporary inscriptions to each front pastedown, and to the front free endpaper of volume I. Pencil inscriptions to rear free endpaper of volume II. Minor worming to fore edge of first 192 pages of volume I, including to front pastedown and free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, but generally clean and bright. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
