Davies in The Strand; and T. Payne at The Mews-Gate. Hardback. lxxvii, 1 - 224, [10], 249 - 507pp - presumably following the original pagination complete with this misnumbering - the book is complete and correct. Dark grey boards with gilt to spine. No jacket. Cambridge (1717 - 1802) was a British poet. educated at Eton and St John's College, Oxford. After leaving University without completing his degree he lived in Lincoln's Inn for several years before marrying and returning to his country seat at Whitminster, Gloucestershire. His major work is 'Scribleriad', a mock epic poem. In 1751 he moved to Twickenham and enjoyed the society of many notables of the age, including Horace Walpole. Sixteen engravings (one of which is a fold-out illustration). Book in very good condition and unread. Just a little soiling to text block edges. Internally very clean and bright.
