A scarce early edition of the collected dramatic and poetical works of Sir George Etherege A scarce early edition, likely the fourth edition.ESTC citation number T52792.Each play with its own title page, pagination, and register.Illustrated with three plates.Register is irregular but text is complete.The collected works of the Restoration dramatist George Etherege, this volume include his poems, 'The Comical Revenge, or, Love in a Tub', 'She Wou'd if She Cou'd', and 'A Man of the Mode: or, Sir Fopling Flutter'.These three comedies were met with much success when first performed, most particularly 'The Man of Mode', which is considered to be the best comedy of matters written before the days of Congreve. Bookplates of Fettiplace Nott, and of Richard Luckett to the front paste downs. In a rebacked calf binding, with new endpapers. Externally, rubbed, mostly to the boards. Minor bumping to the extremities. Light discolouration to the boards. Hinges are starting but firm. Two bookplates to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and generally clean with some occasional spots. Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
