1749 Liger Rustic House Bees Beekeeping Hunting Wine Cuisine Maison Rustique 2v

Louis Liger was a prominent 17th-century French writer known for his works on flora and fauna. He is chiefly remembered for his major work 'Nouvelle Maison Rustique,' or 'The New Rustic House.' Originally titled 'General Economics of Country Goods,' this work went through dozens of editions and reissues following its initial release in 1700. This work covers all aspects of rural life in an encyclopedic form including hunting, gardening, fishing, falconry, wine and beer making, cooking, and bee keeping.

This two-volume sixth edition is filled with 34 fascinating full-page and folding plates as well as 30 in-text woodcut engravings. The 5th-10th editions of 'Maison Rustique' were edited by Henri Besnier.

Henry Thomas Alken was a prolific 19th-century English artist known for his caricature paintings of sporting and hunting scenes. Many of Alken's famous illustrations were published in a collection entitled 'National Sports of Great Britain'. This work is filled with color engravings of Alken's art – fox hunting, horse riding, hunting dogs, and many others.
This 1903 edition was published in New York; however, it was limited to 50 copies – an extremely limited print run and a very rare edition indeed!

Charles Lanman's "Adventures in the Wilds of the United States" is a brilliant, mid-19th-century account of his travels across America. It is one of the best travelogues to describe the middle part of America, from Florida to the Mississippi River into southern Canada. Lanman condensed a number of his earlier works into this first American edition – notes on angling in Canada, hunting in Quebec, and discovery of the source of the Potomac River.
It should be noted that this first American edition includes material not included in the first British edition and features 12 full-page engravings.

This 1784 edition includes woodcut illustrations most of which depict fish and fishing tackle.It was edited by John Hawkins, and the Hawkins editions are some of the best of all 'Angler'
