Atlantic Beach, Florida:: Linda Broadfoot,, 2005.. Edition of 50. A combination of handset letterpress and computer generated work. Letterpress was used to print the text using metal type on a flat bed press on a Vandercook Universal III using Hahnemuhle Biblio and Copperplate papers at the Letterpress & Foundry of Michael and Winifred Bixler. Then digitally reproduced small Giclée prints of the artist's original 20 x 24" Polaroid image transfers were printed archivally on Crane's Museo paper using an Epson 4000 printer. A modern day Cabinet of Wonders. Broadfoot uses A. S. Byatt's "Things Are Not What They Seem" to accompany her images as "a numinous guide to viewing" these wonders of nature. Printer's device in red on title page (Camerini, I, 143, third variant). About 99 woodcut illustrations in text (some repeated), including full-page crucifixion, repeated seven times, and 10-panel historiated woodcut border to facing page, also repeated seven times. Rotunda, roman, and italic type. Music with notes in black on red staves. Bound in paneled calf, roughly contemporary, ruled in gilt with gilt fleurs-de-lis at corners. Binding worn with signs of old repairs. Text toned on some leaves, but remarkably fresh and free of blemishes overall. Images and poems mounted on Russian birch plywood, foreedges coated with beeswax, and encased within a fabricated one-half scale maple Langstroth beehive box structure. Title and bee image engraved on the cover. Title page mounted on the interior side of the lid. Signed and numbered. Hive was produced over the course of two years and contains nine poems from The Bees by Carol Ann Duffy with images and design by Linda Broadfoot. Two folios in original cloth with large colour card onlay on front board and gilt floral motif on rear, 24 full-page chromolithographic plates each facing a matching gilt printed poem; cloth mildly browned in book 1, binding rubbed and mild preliminary foxing in book 2, a very good set with beautiful clean plates.

Methuen & Co. Ltd. London. 1926. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (7.7 x 5.2 inches). Illustrated throughout with beautiful line drawings by E. H. Shepard. Decorative map endpapers. A neat previous owner address has been blind stamped to the front blank endpaper and there are a few minor marks to a handful of pages but overall this is better than very good copy in original dark green cloth, decorated to the front board with an illustration of Christopher Robin and Pooh, within a single ruled border, and double ruled lines and lettering to the spine, all in gilt. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. The cloth and gilt still sharp and fresh. A beautiful copy in the original correct first impression dustwrapper which has some very minor loss to the top and bottom of the spine and corner tips, a couple of small marks and is a little toned to the spine but is still overall a very good example. A lovely copy of this classic.

The title of each picture printed on the guard in brown ink. The colour plates measure 14.9 x 9.6 inches. The card mounts measure 20 x 15 inches. They are housed in the original publishers portfolio with printed title and publication details to front panel. Spine and board corners in beige cloth. Cloth ties to top edge missing but the original ties to the fore and bottom edges are intact. Printed label on inside of front board with the limitation details and numbered and signed by Detmold. This is copy number 204 of only 500 sets produced. The illustrations are held in place with brown card fold-overs to the top and bottom, the fold over at the fore edge is missing.
