Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series is a historical romance with a time-travel twist. It follows WWII nurse Claire Beauchamp, who is transported from 1945 to 1743 Scotland after touching an ancient stone. As Claire adapts to 18th-century life, she becomes involved with Clan MacKenzie and falls in love with young highlander Jamie Fraser. Together, they face the struggles of 18th-century Scotland and eventually move to colonial America in the years before and during the American Revolution. Throughout the series, Gabaldon shows how Claire and Jamie build a life together, despite coming from different eras.
