Concentrates on the first quarter century of operations by the Denver, South Park & Pacific, and the Denver, Leadville & Gunnison from it construction in 1874 to the C&S consolidation of 1899. These were the "Glory Days" of the South Park Line, a period that saw "sewing machine" Mason Bogies smoking up the pass with a short freight, trailed by a diminutive four-wheel caboose. 368 pages with rare black and white photographs, maps, diagrams and illustrations, locomotive roster and bibliography. Fine in fine and bright dust jacket, housed within a fine example of the publisher's slipcase. The dust jacket is clipped removing the price for the trade issue.
