Reader reviews for Twisted Stitches: 30 Corrupt Cross Stitch and Embroidery Designs

From the publisher

For crafters who like their stitching with a twist, this unique book takes cross stitch and embroidery to the dark side!

Think charming cottages with roses around the door - but with abandoned vehicles in the front yard, or napkins embroidered with pretty but deadly poisonous plants... Projects of this title include an RIP (read in peace) bookmark, a butterfly and skulls tote bag, and a pig strikes back barbecue apron. Inspired by popular culture and street art, it's the craft equivalent of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies and is guaranteed to amuse and entertain. The book contains 30 truly original cross stitch and embroidery designs including pictures, cards, pillows, and accessories. Twisted Stitches also features comprehensive instructions on techniques for new stitchers, presented in a fresh, entertaining way, as well as full size fold-out charts of the larger designs.

About the author

Phil Davison runs Urban Cross Stitch, selling kits online. He also organizes Cupcakes! Cocktails! and Cross Stitcch! events, where he provides instruction and advice in a sociable setting. After taking time off from the couture fashion world, Phil learned to cross-stitch in Arkansas, USA, where an elderly family friend taught him the basics. On returning to London Phil was inspired to combine his newfound love of cross-stitch with his existing love of street art, resulting in the creation, in 2008, of Urban Cross Stitch.

Inspired by street art and popular culture, Urban Cross Stitch Kits contain everything required to create your own contemporary, hand crafted, cross stitched heirloom.
