Douglass at Kipp's Bay, 34th St., on the East River, at time of enemy's attack on New York, Sept. 15, and forced to retreat hurriedly. At battle of White Plains Oct. 28. Term expired Dec. 15, '76.) Capt. Higgins' Company. Aaron Brainard, pri. Col. Chapman's Regiment. (In Aug., '78, a body of militia under Brig. Gen. John Tyler served under Gen. Department Of The Interior, Bureau Op Pensions, Washington, D. C, August 10th, 1900. Madam: --Hannah, widow of Reuben Brainard, made an application for pension on December 20th, 1838, at which time she was 75 years of age, and residing at Harpersfield, Astabula Co., Ohio, and her pension was allowed for the service of her husband in the Revolutionary War. The papers on file in her claim shows that he first enlisted in 1779 and served as a sergeant in an expedition against the Indians for a period of nine months; that he again enlisted in 1780, and served for a period of three months. He served under General Sullivan, in the New York line. He died March 15th, 1798. Hannah Mack and Reuben Brainard were married at Spencertown, Tioga Co., N. Y., September 13th, 1782.
