IN the early part of December last the compiler of this little book was advised by several of the leading masons in this city to publish a Masonic Register of the State of New York-and knowing well the value of such a work, especially to the Country Lodges, he addressed a private circular to several prominent brethren in the State an nouncing his intention and soliciting their views and ad vice. Hc received from every quarter the assurance that the Register would meet a ready and warm recep tion - and commenced his task of collecting material for its pages with the beginning of the Masonic Year. Several of those brethren who are ever ready and willing to aid in the dissemination of light and knowledge promptly replied, and furnished all the statistical in formation respecting their Lodges.
