The Atlanta Braves, America's oldest continuously operating professional sports franchise, are beloved by their tomahawk-chopping fans throughout the South and the entire nation. Today, they are recognized and respected as one of the most successful sports organizations in America. In its 125-year history, the team has called Boston, Milwaukee, and now Atlanta home. This comprehensive volume begins with the team's first incarnation in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings, and follows them to Milwaukee in 1953 and to Atlanta in 1966. Along the way they have played as the Beaneaters, Doves, Rustlers, Braves, Bees, and back to the Braves. Because of this transient past, much of the franchise's history has been misplaced over the years - until now.
