A Note from the Author
By the time I left "Care" at the age of seventeen-and-a-half, I considered myself to be absolutely worthless. When I looked in the mirror, all I saw was a hideous monster looking back at me. I felt like I had been placed into this world with no capabilities or talents whatsoever! I would spend most of the day lying in bed with the sheets pulled over my head. This makes seeing my work in print something of a wonderful fulfillment. I spent most my married life fostering and rescuing teenagers in the UK. Since we came to the United States some five years ago, we have opened and now run our Polly's Pantry Royal Tearoom in Wildwood, Florida (see www.hopeinyourheart.com), where I have become a pretty good cook--and quite the comedienne too, or so my delightful customers at the Tearoom all tell me! Not bad for an ex-kid-in-care who seriously flunked school! My heart is for my books to become bestsellers, and hopefully movies, so that I can inspire those who are sadly considering giving up on life. I believe myself to be a spokesperson for those who have no voice, for orphans, children in care and abused women, as well as for those locked away in prison. It is a sad fact that 70 percent of young people in the prisons went through the foster care service; that says it all. May my books inspire every damaged person to persevere and believe that they do have exceptional abilities and God-given talents--they just haven't fully discovered them yet! And may my books also help develop more love, compassion and understanding in those fortunate ones who were blessed to have led happier childhoods and lives.
