Reader reviews for Le Dimore del Patrimonio: Opere Delle Gallerie Fiorentine in Deposito Esterno a Sedi Di Rappresentanza E Luoghi Di Culto

From the publisher

The volume constitutes a repertoire of works - especially paintings but also sculptures, furniture and art objects - granted in storage by the Florentine Galleries to political and ecclesiastical institutions in more than a hundred years of history. This practice began during the nineteenth century, when the Galleries found themselves in possession of a large number of paintings on sacred subjects, coming from the Napoleonic suppressions of the convents of the years 1808-1810, which began to be requested by churches and convents in that area. The many requests for works of art, also for the furnishing of Embassies, Provinces, Prefectures, have led to the need for complete and in-depth control: the numerous inspections and extensive research has led to this publication, in which the works are divided into four sections (Florence, Tuscany, rest of Italy, abroad). The images are accompanied by short sheets containing the technical and identifying data, a critical note relating to the historical-artistic framework and the documentation on the original provenance of the works.
