About This Item

USA: Beacon Press, 1957. Book Club (BCE/BOMC). Hardcover. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Type: Hardback Hardcover BCE Book and Vintage Dust Jacket in Good Condition. A story set in the early thirties in Whichertown, New Hampshire. Among the abandoned farms, a wealthy summer resident has built an expensive log cabin. Amos Jackman brings his family and friends there-and his daughter, Joan. He shows part of a pattern of life 35 years ago in this small town, to record a vanished type of life. The story is written by a man whose passion for the hill country goes deeper than words. The book is clean and unmarked, in rust-colored full cloth, with slight edgewear and a slight lean to the spine. Binding is tight and solid. Prev owner bookplate on paste-down. Rough cut. Pages clean, free from any markings, no creases. Vintage jacket is clean and unmarked, corners and spine head chipped, small diagonal piece missing from spine heel. Has nice appearance. Note from previous reader on rear endpaper. 281 pages. 8.5 x 5.75 inches. Beacon Press, beacon Hill, Boston, MA 1957.
