A very scarce work, only twenty-five copies were printed.The author's own copy, with his bookplate to the front paste down, and his inscription to the recto of the front endpaper.With blank leaves bound between each leaf of text.An account of the estate left behind by Henry Smith upon his death in 1628.Smith was a philanthropist and moneylender, who lent to notable property owners such as the 3rd Earl of Essex and 3rd Earl of Dorset, purchasing Knole and leasing it back to Sackville. In his will, he left money for charitable purposes, including benefiting the poor in various towns and parishes, and for the victims of the barbary slave trade.By Joseph Gwilt, an architect and author. In a rebacked half calf binding, with paper to the spine, and marbled paper to the boards. Externally, a little rubbed and discoloured. Bumping and loss to the extremities. Loss, lifting, and wear to the spine. Marks to the boards and spine. Front hinge is strained, rear hinge is starting. Author's bookplate to the front paste down, and ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots. Good Only
