About This Item

Westport, Connecticut: Greenwood, 1970. All 9 issues in 2 clothbound volumes. Appear unread. Very Fine condition. NO owner's name or bookplate. NOT a library discard. Sharp corners. Pages are crisp, clean and unmarked -- apparently never read. Copiously illustrated. A facsimile reprint of all 9 issues, which appeared irregularly between 1918 and 1934. Includes important articles by Frederic Goudy, Douglas McMurtrie, Konrad Haebler, Dard Hunter, Alfred Pollard, etc. This facsimile is totally faithful to the original issues, including use of red, blue, and green inks, even going so far as to bind in a full color reproduction on glossy paper of an insert advertising the Estey pipe organ. Volume I: 1918-1920 & 1934; Volumes II & III: 1925-1926. See Ulrich/Kup in 3 places: pp. 14/33/41: "Indispensable for the student of the invention of printing and its spread through the centuries... No student of early printing types should neglect to consult this periodical. It ranks high in research and scholarship... A periodical for the research student of typographical history. Indispensable for comparative study." . First Greenwood Edition. Oversize Hardcover (heavy). Very Fine condition/No dust jackets, as issued. Illus. by NOT a library discard. 9 volumes in 2, complete. About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
