New York: Grosset & Dunlap, n.y.. Hardcover. 8vo. Black cloth with dark red lettering, pictorial dust jacket. 401pp. Very good/good plus. Binding lightly edgeworn, with tiny chipping at spine head, and endpapers faintly age toned; jacket edgeworn, with small chips at spine head and tail; handsome period bookplate on front flyleaf. Not the G & D photoplay edition of Harcourt, Brace's 1922 release, but a very early reprint with striking jacket graphic.
Synopsis
Babbitt , by Sinclair Lewis, was first published in 1922. This novel is a satire of American culture. It critiques society and the socially-acceptable behavior of middle-class American life and its pressure on individuals toward conformity.
