The first edition thus in the series of 'The World's Classics.' A travelogue by George Borrow, published in the series of 'The World's Classics' by Oxford University Press, volume LXXV in 'The Works of George Borrow' in pocket size. A popular book upon publication, it ran through several editions.The Bible in Spain was originally published in 1843, and it recounts of the author's travels through Spain while working as a bible salesman during the Carlist Civil War. His activities were strongly opposed by the Roman Catholic Church and politicians. In a handsome full calf fine binding. In a full calf binding with five raised bands and marbled endpapers and edges. Externally lovely. Inscribed to the recto of the front blank page, dated 1912 'H A F Crewdson.' Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
