Reviews
On Dec 22 2020, a reader said:
A poignant story set during WWII in a small German town. Old Anton tries to live his life as best he can while avoiding clashing with the Nazis who run the town, but a clash becomes inevitable. There is humor, kindness and tragedy, but most of all the story serves as an interesting comment on human nature. Like all Bemelmans books, it is a window into a lost world. I highly recommend it to Bemelmans fans and those who are interested in Germany or WWII.
