About This Item

New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1921. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 7.5" by 5.5". Not Stated. A scarce novel by the American journalist and author Garet Garrett, in which the protagonist looks for the man who started the First World War. The first edition of this scarce work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Ink inscription to the front free end paper, dated 1922. Garet Garrett (1878-1954) was an American journalist and author, known for his opposition to the New Deal and US involvement in the Second World War. This thought-provoking novel, set in the aftermath of the First World War, follows the life of John Scott, an American soldier who becomes involved with a group of political radicals. This novel explores themes of war, politics, and social justice. A six-page publisher's catalogue to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with fading and shelf wear to the spine and a little damp staining to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a faint mark to the bottom of the pages from page 157 until the end of the publisher's catalogue. Very Good
