East Aurora: The Roycrofters, 1913. Soft cover. Good. First edition, 5" x 7 1/4"; pp. [12], 11-161, [7]; original limp full calf; embossed title and decorations; gilt top edge and roughly-cut fore-edge of pages; wear mostly along edges of covers; spine slightly rubbed and faded; portrait frontis; engraved vignettes at beginning of chapters; few small pencil marks at outer margin of several pages; number written in upper corner of first free page; good or better condition. Signed/inscribed by author. He founded the Roycroft artisan community - an exponent of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Among his best known and most influential works is 'Little Journeys to the Homes of the Great.' His wife and he perished aboard Lucitania, when the ship was sunk by a German submarine in 1915. In his present work he elaborates on his ideas of business as a fine art.
