Includes serial stories: Jack Rag -- Dick Whittington, Thrice Lord Mayor of London -- Lionel the Bold -- The Cruise of the Alabama by Lt. Leslie Gordon -- King Harry the Fifth -- Our Hero at School. Also includes The Young Amateur's Guide to steam and the steam engine, and to constructing an electrical machine, a Leyden jar, and fireworks. The Christmas Number contains Mine Host of the Holly Bush. In Fair Condition: lacking leather over spine; loss from fore-edge of first leaf of Dec. 15, 1883, issue, with minor loss of text and from fore-edge of 4th leaf of Dec. 29, 1883, issue, with loss of text; lacking lower corner of 4th leaf of Jan. 12, 1884, issue, with loss of text; old tape repairs.
