About This Item
New York: Bantam Books, 2006 . First edition. Cloth. Fine/Fine. 8.5" by 6". Laura Hartman Maestro. A fine, first edition of Tahir Shah's autobiographical work depicting his move to live in a mansion by the sea in Casablanca. First edition, in the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Written by Tahir Shah, an author and documentary maker who has travelled widely for his work, searching for adventure and hidden lands. Born into a prominent Anglo-Afghan family, Shah uses his work to bridge the gap between the East and the West. In this work, Shah documents his big move with his family to live in a beautiful, somewhat crumbling, mansion in Casablanca. This mansion once beloved to the city's caliph, or spiritual leader, and comes with its beauty and its challenges. With charming vignettes throughout by Laura Hartman Maestro. In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, excellent, with minor shelf wear only. Dust wrapper is lovely. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean. Fine
