Bound in full, contemporary straight-grain dark blue morocco, with five raised bands, the spine decorated in gilt, gilt rules and decorations to covers, elaborate gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. 60 engraved illustrations "from sketches taken on the spot, expressly to illustrate 'Childe Harold' ". With gift inscription 3rd front end page dated 1845 and 1897 from her Mother to Christine and Christine Kean Roosevelt from Christine Kean Griffin. Christine Kean Griffin was the wife of William Emlen Roosevelt and Christine Kean Roosevelt was their daughter. William Roosevelt was a prominent New York banker and cousin to President Teddy Roosevelt and financial advisor to Teddy before, during, and after his presidency. Near Fine, small rubs to moroccoa at spine ends. A quite lovely copy with an interesting provenance. . Illustrated Edition. Morocco. Near Fine/No Jacket, As Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
