Contains detailed historic and current and statistical information about the US, (with some data from Europe), sight seeing information, index, hotel lists, history of NYC, its imports and exports, business resources, street directory, lists of parks, rates charged by cartmen, pier locations, hackney fares, ferries, city railroads, omnibus routes, packets and their frequency, laws, churches, societies, masonic lodges, necrology - a list of notable deceased of 1857 with specific mention of those missionaries 'killed since the commencemenet of the mutiny in India' referring to the Indian Rebellion of 1857 or the Sepoy Mutiny. General events for 1857, and government contacts as well as a business directory.
