The third edition of this description of the ancient Roman and Greek sculptures found in the Vatican Museums, illustrated with a folding map. The third edition of this work. This work is a compendium of the pieces found in the Vatican Museum and Galleries, focussing on the ancient Greek and ancient Roman sculptures. Illustrated with one folding plate. Written by Cav. H. J. Massi, the first curator of the Vatican Museum and Galleries, and a Professor of the Italian and French languages. Printed by F. Cuggiani. Bookplate to the front pastedown of Richard Caton. Caton was a physician and the Lord Mayor of Liverpool. He was involved in the discovery of the electrical nature of the brain. In a full vellum binding. Externally, generally smart. Light discolouration to the boards and spine, as is usual with vellum. A few light marks to the boards. Boards are a little cocked. Small amount of loss to the extremity to the front board. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots. Very Good
