About This Item

GLOUCESTER: ALAN SUTTON, 1982 Maroon boards with gilt titles to spine, 225x160mm approx. xi + 148pp. Line Map and 25 illustrations as called for. Written by a respected author on Thomas Hardy who lectured widely on his subject this is an investigation into the identity of the spirited young Victorian beauty of whom Hardy wrote a deeply felt elegy in his poem "Concerning Agnes' and of their friendship of 30 years namely Agnes Geraldine Fox-Pitt (Lady Grove). The copy offered by us would be an appropriate addition to the bookshelves of any Hardy devotee in that it is inscribed Best Wishes and signed by the author to the title page in ink with no other name. VG/VG (Book- Light soiling to a few pages - not significant but worthy of mention. No previous owner name. Dust Jacket - laminate rubbed and scuffed in two places at bottom edge - front and rear panel of up to 10x5mm. No other notable defects to book or jacket- the latter now in a removable proprietary protective sleeve). Please see our images of the actual book offered for sale.
