The tenth edition of this novel by Hall Caine, one of the greatest novelist from the Isle of Man. ]The Deemster was originally published in 1887. This is the tenth edition of 1890. It follows the story of Dan Mylrea, a man of reckless behaviour, and the consequent exile and atonement. The author's third novel, it was his first great success. This book is also considered to be the first Manx novel, and the secon by Caine to be set in the Isle of Man. Upon its release, it became a huge success and The Punch magazine soon dubbed it "The Boomster." With thirty two leaves of publisher's advertisements. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and the extremities. With some faint damp staining to the rear board. With a minor loss to the top edge of the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Very Good
