Illustrated by Arthur Rackham with four monochrome plates. Collated complete. This work was written by Anthony Hope, a British novelist and playwright best known for his work 'The Prisoner of Zenda' and its sequel. This work features the fictional character Dolly Foster and her many stories, and provides a picture of the end of the Victorian era. This is also the first work to be fully illustrated by the noted Arthur Rackham, who is regarded to be one of the most important book illustrators of this era. Bound in quarter straight grain morocco with cloth to the boards and the original paper wraps bound in. Externally smart with slight fading to the extremities of the boards and spine and rubbing to the joints and to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge starting after the front blank. Internally firmly bound with generally bright pages with spotting throughout, heaviest to the front and rear. Very Good
