The first single-volume edition (originally issued in three volumes between 1903 and 1908). 8vo. xv, 525pp + xxxii publisher's advertisements. Green cloth lettered in gold at the spine. Edges rough-trimmed. With a photogravure frontispiece portrait and tissue-guard, the latter lightly spotted. Some bruising to the backstrip ends and just a touch of wear to the corner tips. Free endpapers lightly spotted. Boards lightly marked and handled. Endpapers lightly spotted and half-title browned. A very good, bright copy. No dust wrapper, possibly as issued. See Purdy pp.134..
