New York: William Edwin Rudge, 1931. First edition. Hardcover. A very handsome production. Written by William A. Starrett, the builder of the Empire State Building with text accompanied by a handsome full-color frontispiece and many black and white drawings by Vernon Howe Bailey showing the building progress and completion of the Empire State Building. Bailey's artistic specialty during his career as a newspaper and magazine artist was buildings, city streets, and landscapes.
Folio (17 x 13"), unnumbered [12] pp, 25 plates, 1 color frontispiece, printed on laid paper, untrimmed foredge. Descriptive letter press on versos facing plates. Bound in dark blue paper over boards, white spine, embossed image of Empire State Building on front cover, title in gilt on spine. Very clean condition, cover slt dusty, housed in original publishers box. One of an unknown number of copies, unnumbered. Box separated at edges and paper water speckled. The book is in fine condition. OCLC: 1244506.
