About This Item

[T' Amsteldam: Nicolaus Visscher, 1719]., 1719].. Very good. - A 6-1/8 inch high by 7-7/8 inch wide hand-colored engraving on a 6-1/2 inch high by 8-1/4 inch wide sheet of watermarked laid paper. The engraving, titled in Dutch and French, is attractively hand-colored in pastel shades. "pres Utrecht" and a number is discreetly penned below the French title. Near fine.

The engraving is attributed to Daniel Stoopendaal. [cf. Bénézit (Nouvelle ed.), 13:277. Thieme-Becker, 32:117]. Daniel Stoopendaal (1672-1726) was a Dutch engraver and draughtsman best known for his garden and landscape prints.

The print was extracted from "De Zegepraalende Vecht, Vertoonende verscheidene Gesichten van Lustplaatsen, Heeren Huysen en Dorpen ; Beginnende van Uitrecht en met Muyden besluytende. La Triomphante Riviere de Vecht, Remonstrant diverses Veues des Lieux de Plaisances & Maisons Seignorales & Villages ; Commencant de Uitrecht & finissant avec Muyden", published by Nicolas Visscher in Amsterdam, 1719.
