Mid 18th century Church history written in Latin. Author of the study is Johann Lorenz von Mosheim, German Lutheran church historian. His first appearance in the field of literature was in a polemical tract against John Toland. This work is titled "Vindiciae antiquae christianorum disciplinae" and it was published in 1720. Year later a volume of "Observationes sacrae" followed it. These works secured for him a call to the University of Helmstedt. There he gained a title "professor ordinarius" in 1723. The "Institutionum historiae ecclesiasticae libri IV" appeared in 1726. In the same year, he was appointed by the duke of Brunswick abbot of Marienthal. This is one of the more important works regarding church history in Luteranism.

A rare and beautiful copy of Orthodox Evangelion with luxury purple velvet binding with brass clasps and corner and center ornaments. Woodcut printed text and hand-colored illustrations. The book contains multiple hand inscriptions that are only partially legible.The pencil inscription on the front flyleaf contains references to Sarajevo, Bosnia, and Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria, as well as the years: 1911 and 1914. It is possible that the text in some way refers to the Bosnian crisis which served as a prelude to WWI. But, since we have not been able to translate the entire text, we cannot be certain of the context. He was appointed Professor of Theology at Erlangen in 1773, Primarius Professor of Theology at Erlangen in 1773, Primarius Professor of Divinity at Giessen in 1783, and was called in 1785 to Leipzig, where he remained until his death in 1815.

Extremely scarce medicine book.
WorldCat and other bibliographies find only the later edition from 1826. This is the first and only copy of the 1816 edition known and currently for sale.
This book contains instructions for limb amputation procedures. It also contains illustrations of the various tools of the trade.
The author was Vincenz von Kern (born January 20, 1760, in Graz, † April 16, 1829, in Vienna), an Austrian doctor and surgeon.
Kern worked as a surgical assistant in Salzburg, Trieste, and Venice. In 1783 he moved to the hospital in Sankt Marx, where he practiced and attended surgical lectures at the same time. After Kern had become a master of surgery and obstetrics in 1784, he received his doctorate in 1790. chir. and in 1797 took over a professorship for surgery and obstetrics at the k. k. Lyceum in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
