About This Item

Boca Raton, FL: CRC, 1981. Printed Gray Boards. Very Good/No Jacket. 10 1/4" Tall. This book, while not designed as a textbook, follows the same structured development as one. Its objective is not pedagogy, but "to provide sufficient self-contained design information for scientists and engineers who wish to do practical design of digital systems for their applications... This book contains principally three essential types of information: (1) fundamentals - serving as a review to the readers who are somewhat familiar with the basic theories, but occasionally wish to refresh themselves with the formula, design equations, terminologies, symbols, and notations; (2) characteristics, properties, and principles of operation of the devices, modules, and building blocks that are frequently being used as components in digital system design; and (3) design procedures by means of examples that would provide the readers with some guidelines for system design." The chapter headings are: Review of Linear Circuit Fundmentals; Basic Modules (Building Blocks) for Linear Systems; A Review and Clarification of Pulse and Switching Circuit Fundamentals; Basic Electronic Logic Elements; Basic Functional Modules; Memory Systems; Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU); Analog-Digital-Analog Conversion; Noise in Digital Systems; and Random Logic Design Using Programmable Logic Elements. Nine chapters, 247 pages, with Figures and Index; plus Preface and Table of Contents; References at the end of each chapter. Covers are clean and sound; text is strong but is nipped at pages (vi) and (viii), and contains light margin pencillings or pencil underlinings on at least 23 pages.
