Paris: J. Mallet et Cie, 1841. "Edition Illustree." Quarto (10.5" x 7.25"), xx & 525 pages including numerous illustrations in text plus 18 plates only (of 20 per list) printed on China paper & mounted to light card stock. Contemporary half black morocco & pebbled green cloth, the spine in six compartments separated by raised bands, lettered or ruled in gilt in all compartments. Top edge gilt. Text in French.

Binding rubbed, corners bruised, foxing (heavy at times), lacking two plates per list but no evidence of removal, previous owner's name & date in pencil at the recto of the frontis, otherwise good.

First published in 1591, Jerusalem Delivree, an epic poem which is characterized as highly imaginative, treats of the First Crusade & the efforts to wrest Jerusalem from Muslim control at the hands of the Latin Church.
